MIRORI “Emotional Transit: Visual Dialogue with Picoas“

Emotional Transit: A Visual Dialogue with Picoas was a ten-day exhibition and participatory project by artist Mirori, from  October 3 to 13, 2025, presented at the Picoas metro station in Lisbon as part of the Mais Uno +1 program.
The exhibition combined a display of paintings created during the artist’s residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with an evolving series of small mixed-media works produced on site. Installed in the metro station studio, the project invited passersby and visitors to participate in a quiet daily reflection.
Each day a new question was displayed in the studio window, encouraging people in transit to write anonymous responses. These written reflections were collected throughout the day and served as the starting point for new visual works created by the artist. Using plexiglass panels and mixed materials such as thread, resin, and layered textures, Mirori produced abstract visual interpretations inspired by selected responses.
Over the course of the exhibition, the wall gradually filled with these small works alongside fragments of anonymous thoughts, forming a growing visual dialogue between strangers and the artist.
Set within the context of a metro station- a space defined by movement and brief encounters- the project explored themes of empathy, emotional expression, and the invisible connections that can emerge between people who may never meet again.
